Setting File type associations

This example details how to check and change the file type association for animations (*.avi) on Windows.

Note: It is recommended that you close all programs before proceeding.

1. Using Windows Explorer, locate a file with the *.avi extension.
2. Right-click on the file, then select Open With. If another program is associated with the *.avi extension, select Open With > Choose Program.
3. Select Windows Media Player from the Programs list. Ensure that the Always use the selected program to open this kind of file checkbox is selected.
4. Click OK to change the file type association and return to Windows Explorer.
