Properties (Personal Database) dialog

This dialog is used to add/edit/delete entries in a personal database.

To access this dialog, click Edit Database (Tools tab > Database panel > Edit) and open a database that you have previously created.

There are three ways that you can create a new entry in the personal database:

Dialog elements

Properties

The Property type was specified when you created a new database.

Displays the name of the destination database.

When creating or editing a database, you are creating or editing a destination database. When copying from the Autodesk database to your own, customized database, the destination database is your custom database.

Personal database entries table
Displays the entries in your personal database, in tabular format.
Tip: Double-clicking on an entry will open it for editing.

In the properties table, select the property you want to use as a template. Click Duplicate and click OK to create the duplicate. Select the duplicate property and edit it.

Delete
Allows you to delete properties from the database.
In the properties table, select the property you wish to delete. Click Delete.
Tip: You can select multiple properties by holding down the Ctrl button as you select.

Columns
Allows you to control the way data is displayed in the dialog.

The dialog displays data in a tabular format, as described below.

  • Each row represents a single property, for example, one thermoplastic material (if you are working with a thermoplastic material database), or one molding machine (if you are working with a molding machine database).
  • Each column represents a type of data associated with the property. For example, the following are some of the types of data associated with thermoplastic materials: family name, trade name, manufacturer, mold temperature, specific heat data.
Databases
Expands or contracts the dialog to show the system and user databases, so you can copy materials from them into your personal database.
Copy
Provides a quick way to select properties for your model from databases, or to transfer property data from one model to another.

In the Properties dialog, click Databases >>. This opens a database associated with the open properties (Parameters, Materials, Process Conditions). The newly opened database is displayed at the bottom of the Properties dialog and is labeled Database. The properties which belong to your model or database are at the top, and are labeled Destination. Under Database, locate and highlight the property you want to copy. Press the Copy button. The selected property is copied to the destination, your model file or database.

Note: Copied properties are editable; you can simply double-click the property and make changes. Copied properties are saved for future use.
Open
Allows you to open a database.
