Running a Molding Window analysis

Before you run a Molding Window analysis, use the Gate Location analysis to find the best injection location.

The Molding Window analysis uses the model geometry, material, injection location, and surface finish to calculate the best processing conditions.

  1. Open an existing project, or create a new one.
  2. Open a study, or click Application button then Import (Open > Import), and then import a CAD model.
  3. Click Injection Location (Home tab > Molding Process Setup panel > Injection Location), and then click the model to insert an injection point.
  4. Click Analysis Sequence (Home tab > Molding Process Setup panel > Analysis Wizard), select Molding Window from the analysis sequence list, and then click Next.
  5. If necessary, change the Maximum machine injection pressure, and Machine clamp open time, and then click Next.
  6. In the Molding Window page, click Add to assign materials for the analysis.
  7. Select a surface finish. In general, a high gloss finish is achieved at a higher melt temperature than a low gloss finish.
  8. Click Analyze to start the analysis, or click Finish to close and save the Analysis Wizard.
Note: When the Analysis Wizard is closed, click Analyze Now!, Analysis toolbar in the Study Tasks pane to run the analysis.
The analysis Summary pane appears when the analysis is complete.
  9. Click the Molding Window tab in the Results Summary to view the best processing conditions.
