- Make sure you have selected the Multi-cavity mold type.
- Import a CAD model.
- Click then click (). The Add Part-Model selection dialog appears.
- Click Browse to locate your file.
- Navigate to the folder where your CAD model is located and select it.
- Click Open, then click Next.
- Select the appropriate units from the Add Part-Units dialog, then click Next.
- If necessary, deselect options from the Add Part-Advanced options dialog, then click Next.
- Read the advice from the Analysis type dialog, and then select an
Analysis type
for your model.
Note:
The analysis type you select determines the analysis type that will be used for all the parts in your family mold.
In order to recommend the best type of analysis, the Import wizard applies the following rules:
- If any of the imported models contains defects that cannot be repaired,
Dual Domain
will be the only analysis available.
- If some models are suitable for a 3D analysis and others for Dual Domain analysis, then either types of analyses can be selected. However, as the combined model is not entirely suitable for a Dual Domain analysis, the Import wizard will recommend a
3D
analysis.
- If all imported models are suitable for a Dual Domain analysis, either types of analyses can be selected, but the Import wizard will obviously recommend a
Dual Domain
analysis.
- Click Finish.
The combined model appears inside the Model pane.
