Runner properties dialog

To access this dialog, click Runner Properties (Geometry tab > Properties panel > Defaults > Runner Properties).

Note: The default values for hot or cold runners with the same shape can be set independently.

If you change the properties of the runner here, every new runner will have these properties. The properties of existing runners will not change. You can override these defaults when you create or edit a runner.

Dialog elements

Note: Some of the items listed below may not be available on the current dialog. This is dependent on the type of runner selected.
Tip: To change the existing runner properties, select the runner, and then right-click and select Properties.
Runner type
Choose a hot or cold runner.
Note: Although you can use both hot and cold gates with a hot runner system, you cannot use hot gates with a cold runner system.
Runner Shape
Choose the runner shape.
Note: As each runner shape is selected, a description is shown in the section below.
Diameter (1)
Specify the cross-sectional diameter of the circular or semi-circular runner.
Start diameter (1)
Specify the cross-sectional diameter of the runner at the starting point. This is the initial point selected when creating the runner interactively.
End diameter (2)
Specify the cross-sectional diameter of the runner at the end point. This is the final point selected when creating the runner interactively.
Width (1)
Specify the cross-sectional width of a rectangular runner, or the width of the isosceles trapezoid which forms the cross section of a trapezoidal runner.
Thickness (2)
Specify the cross-sectional thickness of a rectangular runner, or the thickness (or height) of the isosceles trapezoid which forms the cross section of a trapezoidal runner.
Outer diameter (1)
Specify the outer diameter of the annular runner cross-section.
Inner diameter (2)
Specify the inner diameter of the annular runner cross-section.
Temperature
Select the temperature control for the Annular runner.
User defined temperature
Set the temperature manually for the annular runner if User defined is selected above.
Angle
Specify the side angle of the trapezoidal runner.

The taper origin point is displayed on the runner description above.

Length
Specifies the length of the selected runner.
Runner Balance Constraints...
Fix the dimensions of the selected runner element(s) to the specified values or constrain the dimensions within specified limits.
