Create, edit or delete runner planes from the current model.
To access this dialog, click ().
Note: The available modeling tools depend on the mold type selected.
This tool allows you to add one or more modeling planes to aid in creating runners. You can also edit or delete runner planes that you have previously created. Runner planes are always parallel to the XY plane. This tool allows you to specify the depth on the Z axis of a runner plane by three methods:
-
Click the Top or Bottom buttons.
-
Enter a value in the Z depth of plane text box.
-
Drag the runner plane markers in the display window.
Dialog elements
- Runner planes
- Add, edit or delete runner planes.
- Add
- Creates a new plane.
Note: The default name of the new plane appears in the list of planes.
- Delete
- Remove the selected plane from the list of planes.
- Planes list
- Displays the list of the modeling planes you created.
Select a plane from the list, then edit the Plane properties, or click Delete to remove it.
- Plane Properties
- Displays the plane type, name and position.
- Type
- Displays the type of plane selected.
Autodesk Simulation Moldflow Adviser allows one parting plane and an unlimited number of modeling planes to be created.
- Name
- Enter a name for the plane you are creating.
Note: If you do not enter a name, Autodesk Simulation Moldflow Adviser enters a default name for you.
- Z Depth of Plane
- Enter the distance, along the Z-axis, the plane is to be from the origin.
- Top
- Moves the selected plane to the top of the cavity.
The distance from the origin is updated automatically in the Z depth of plane text box.
- Bottom
- Moves the selected plane to the bottom of the cavity.
The distance from the origin is updated automatically in the Z depth of plane text box.
- Bottom View
- Displays the bottom of the model.
- Grid Settings
- Enables/disables grid options.
This area of the dialog specifies whether the grid appears when you create or move a runner/cooling channel, whether the runner/cooling channel is constrained to the grid points, and allows you to define the grid settings.
- Location
- Set or edit a modeling plane.
- Edit
- Modify the properties of the selected plane.
- Display grid
- Specifies whether a grid appears when you create or move runners, cooling channels and parting planes, or size the mold.
Note: The grid is parallel to the X-Y plane.
- Snap to grid
- Specifies that the nearest grid point is automatically used when you create or move runners, cooling channels, or parting planes, or size the mold using the mouse. This helps define exact dimensions.
Tip: You can turn the Snap to grid option on and off while you are drawing a new cross section.
- Defaults
- Opens the Define Grid dialog, and allows you to set the grid size, style and origin.
