To enable a more focused investigation of an analysis, modeling elements such as feed and cooling systems can be either hidden or displayed.
To customize the elements shown, select
() and a list of modeling elements appears. Any selected items will appear in the Graphics Display pane.
Note: Only elements that are included in the Study are available for selection.
The elements available are listed:
- Bounding Box
- Toggles the display of the bounding box.
- This is the smallest box in the XYZ planes that can contain the model. The bounding box is used to determine the required injection molding machine parameters, such as the clamp force requirements.
- Injection Cones
- Toggles the display of the injection cones.
- Injection cones represent the location where the molten polymer enters the mold.
- Origin
- Displays or hides the local coordinate system origin.
- Feature Edges
- Displays the feature edge of the model.
- This is achieved by searching the model for non-planar surfaces which use an angular tolerance of 46 degrees. The edge is drawn on top of the existing model using the highlight color as defined in the Options dialog.
- Cavities
- Hide or show the cavities in the mold.
- This feature enables a closer investigation of the feed and cooling system.
- Runner System
- Hide or show the runner system.
- Other feed system elements such as gates, runners, and the sprue are still displayed.
- Runner Center Line
- Toggle the active runner system elements between center line and standard format display.
- Runner Intersections
- Toggles the display of the runner system intersection points.
- This is particularly useful when only the gates are to be selected.
- Gates
- Hide or show the display of the gates.
- Prohibited Gate Regions
- Toggles the display of prohibited gate regions.
- The possible surfaces where an injection location can be placed, can be restricted by allocating a surface as a prohibited gate region.
- Cooling Channels
- Hide or show the cooling channels.
- Other cooling system elements such as hoses, baffles and bubblers are still displayed.
- Cooling Hoses
- When selected, the cooling hoses are displayed.
- Any part of the cooling system that extends beyond the mold boundary is considered a hose. Cooling hoses do not impact on the cooling of the part.
- Cooling Baffles
- Hide or show the cooling baffles.
- Baffles provide localized, targeted cooling to part hot spots.
- Cooling Bubblers
- Hide or show cooling bubblers.
- Bubblers provide localized, targeted cooling to part hot spots.
- Cooling Intersections
- Toggle the display of the cooling intersections.
- This is useful when modeling a baffle or bubbler that is located at the intersection of the cooling channel.
- Cooling Inlets
- Toggle the display of the coolant inlet arrows.
- After setting the coolant inlet properties, displaying the coolant inlets might not be required.
- Cooling Center Lines
- Toggle the cooling channel elements between center line and standard display.
- This feature helps quickly assess the proximity of the cooling elements such as bubblers and baffles to other features.
- Mold Outline
- Toggles the representation of the mold that has been defined.
