Temperature, heater (3D) thermocouples (transient from start- up): XY Plot

The 'Temperature, heater (3D) thermocouples (transient from start-up): XY Plot' result shows the temperature at the thermocouple node, from the moment the production begins to the current cycle in question. The temperature at the node is plotted for each cycle. This result is available for both Dual Domain and 3D analyses.

In order to create this result, you must model the heaters as (3D) heater elements in the mold model. Then you must set the temperature control to be at the specific thermocouple node that you define. The temperature at this thermocouple node then determines whether the heater element is turned on or off.

Using this result

This result shows you the temperature on this node from the beginning of production. You can see when the heater turns on and when it turns off. From this, you can determine if the heater is powerful enough for this design, or if the cycle on is sufficiently long.

Tip: The layer representing the (3D) heater element must be on in order to display this result

Things to look for

Make sure that the temperature cycles as you would expect. If it does not:
  • check that all the controls that you have set, regarding what should happen when the node is not at the specified temperature, are correct.
