Temperature, part (average, profile)

The Temperature, part (average, profile) result is a Dual Domain result that shows the temperature of the part, calculated for each time step of the cycle and plotted at the point where the normalized thickness = 1.000.

This profile is based on the average mold surface temperature for the cycle, which includes the clamp open time. The temperature laminate results are calculated using a finite difference method through the thickness of the part.

Using this result

To see how the temperature varies through the thickness of part, you can create an XY plot of the result at different points on the part. To do this, click (Home tab > Results panel > Results), then click (New Plot > Plot) and scroll down to the Temperature, part (average, profile) result. Remember to change the Plot type to XY plot, and on the Plot Properties tab, change the Independent variable from Time to Normalized thickness.

There should be only a small variation in the temperature across the part. Areas of high temperature may be thick regions of the part or areas that are poorly cooled. Consider adding cooling channels near these areas.

Note: If you animate the result, you can see how the temperature changes over the duration of the analysis inside the solid model.
