Solver message 312065

Message Text

** WARNING 312065 ** Beam (x) does not touch any mold elements.

Explanation

Holes must be modeled in the mold to accommodate any beam elements that may run through the mold. The holes may be for runners or cooling circuits. The faces of the tetrahedral mesh touching beam elements must match the beam elements as closely as possible. When representing a circular shape with tetrahedral elements the round shape can never be perfectly round. This makes matching the round beam to the tetrahedral elements challenging. Hence different tolerances are applied when matching. In most cases if the tetrahedral surface is within 20% of the diameter of the beam, the solver will match the tetrahedral face to the beam element. If not, then this message may appear.

This warning can also be displayed if the diameter of the runners or the cooling channels has been changed, but the mold has not been remeshed. In this case, the diameter of the beam will not match the hole in the mold.

Resolution

  1. Make sure that any beam diameters were not changed after mold meshing. If so remesh the mold or change the diameter back to what it was when the mold was meshed.
  2. Mesh the mold model again with a finer mesh.
  3. If the mold model came from CAD, refine the edge length specification for the holes in the mold through which the circuits go.
