Comparing results of two studies

In this task, you will learn how to visually compare results of two studies included in the same result file (project).

The open project contains results from 2 studies displayed in the Project View pane of the Tasks tab.

  1. Click (Home tab > Results panel > Compare). The first result of each study appears, one above the other. The displays synchronize, allowing you to manipulate them together.
Note: This option is available only if the Moldflow Results file you selected contains results of two studies.
  2. The results of the active study are displayed in the Study Tasks pane. To change the active study, either click on the study title bar in the graphics window, or click the study name tab at the bottom of the graphics window.
  3. Display the Circuit coolant temperature result. Note the differences between the Dustpan Original and Dustpan Modified cooling channel layouts, as well as coolant temperature values.
  4. Display the Temperature, mold result. The Plot Note pane displays information about why this result is important.

This information is different for each study. Note how the display changes as you change the active study.

Note the differences in the temperature scales and the hot areas on the model in each study.

  5. Display the Deflection, differential cooling: Deflection result. Note the degree of warpage in the handle area of each study. Note the differences in the maximum deflection values in each study.

By comparing the results of these two studies visually, it is possible to see how the change in cooling channel layout leads to reduced warpage.
