Using the Aspect Ratio Diagnostic

The recommended maximum aspect ratio for a Midplane and Dual Domain mesh is 6. The recommended minimum and maximum 3D mesh aspect ratios are 5 and 50, with the typical value of 15.

  1. Click Aspect Ratio (Mesh tab > Mesh Diagnostics panel > Aspect Ratio). The Aspect Ratio Diagnostic dialog appears.
  2. Use the Aspect Ratio Diagnostic dialog to detect large aspect ratio elements.
  3. Click Show/Hide Mesh Diagnostics (Mesh tab > Mesh Diagnostics panel > Show) to toggle the diagnostic display on or off.
  4. Look for elements with aspect ratios outside the acceptable range. Use appropriate tools in Mesh Repair panel to correct the problem. Depending on the specific problem, Global Merge, Merge Nodes or Remesh Area may help.
