Specifying Routing Preferences for Duct

You can assign fittings to use when routing duct.

To specify routing preferences

  1. In the Project Browser, expand Views (all)Floor Plans and open a view for the mechanical system.
  2. In the Project Browser, expand FamiliesDuctDuct Types.
  3. Right-click a duct type, and click Type Properties.
Note: To edit the type properties while the Duct command is active, click (Edit Type).
  4. In the Type Properties dialog, under Fittings, for Routing Preferences, click Edit.
  5. In the Routing Preferences dialog, click the name of a part to specify a different part.
Note: Even though you can add additional rows, you should specify only one part for each section.
  6. To modify duct sizes, click Duct Size.
  7. Use the Mechanical Settings dialog to add or delete available sizes.

Note: When routing duct, Revit uses the settings in routing preferences first, and then if needed, uses the Angles setting in Mechanical Settings.

If you make changes to the routing preferences and want to update existing pipe runs in your design with the same type, select the existing segments and fittings and on the Modify tab, click (Reapply Type). If you want to change the type for a duct run and use a different routing preference, on the Modify tab, click (Change Type).
