In the conceptual design environment, surfaces are created from open lines or edges, rather than from closed profiles.
Note: If the 2 lines are parallel, the result is a 2D surface that can be used to stitch together other models. See
3D Snapping.
To create a surface using a line
- Select a work plane for the surface. See Setting and Showing Work Planes.
- Click Create tabDraw panel Line.
- Draw a line on the work plane.
- Select another work plane.
- Draw a line on this work plane.
- Select the lines.
- Click Create Form.
To create a surface using the Options Bar
- Click Create tabDraw panel Line.
- On the Options Bar, select Make surface from closed loops.
- (Optional) On the Options Bar, select Chain to create a chain of lines.
- Draw a closed profile.
The surface is automatically created.
