Best Practices for Using Revit on Citrix

  • Rendering uses a lot of system resources and works best when run on a dedicated client machine.
  • Upgrading project files consumes a lot of memory and can have an adverse effect on other users working on the same server. Users should upgrade project files on a separate machine running program before opening these files in a Citrix environment.
  • Close other programs accessed via Citrix.
  • Turn off shadows for all printed views if not absolutely necessary.
  • Use section boxes or crop regions to limit working area.
  • Set detail level to Course or Medium.
  • Set the following in program Options:
    • Set Tooltip Assistance to "none."
    • Turn off the View Cube.
    • Turn off 3 options for Steering Wheel Text Visibility.
  • In general, the following characteristics of a program model can affect performance:
    • Complex geometry
    • Multiple parametric relationships
    • Multiple constraints
    • Linked files
    • Refer to the Model Performance Technical Note for specific suggestions for maximizing performance in program models.
