Insulating Piping

You can add insulation to piping.

To add insulation to piping

  1. In the drawing area, select the piping, and filter out items that are not piping segments or fittings.
    Tip: To insulate all the pipes in a system, highlight a component in the system, press Tab until all the components of the system are highlighted, and click to select everything in the system. You can then use the filter tool to select only pipe segments and fittings before adding insulation.
  2. Click Modify | Pipes tabPipe Insulation panel Add Insulation.
  3. In the Add Pipe Insulation dialog, select the desired Insulation Type, and enter the desired thickness.
    Tip: To change the type properties for the insulation, click Edit Type.
  4. Click OK.

    Note: Interference Checking detects interferences caused by insulation added to piping.

To edit insulation on piping

  1. In the drawing area, select the piping you wish to modify.
  2. Click Modify | Pipes tabPipe Insulation panel Edit Insulation.
  3. On the Properties palette, specify the insulation thickness, and click Apply.
    Tip: To change the type properties for the insulation, click Edit Type.

To remove insulation from piping

  1. In the drawing area, select the piping you wish to modify.
  2. Click Modify | Pipes tabPipe Insulation panel Remove Insulation, and in the confirmation dialog, click Yes.
