Linking Server-Based Workshared Models

You can link Revit models located on the same server or on different servers in your Revit Server network into a central model or associated local file. The resulting link operates as any other linked model would in file-based workshared projects.

You can save a central model to a Revit Server, then link that central model into other central models by browsing to the same Revit Server that hosts the open central model. No other file type (DWG, DXF, DWF, DGN, SAT, SKP) can be stored on a Revit Server.

Note: You cannot link to central models from Revit Servers other than the current one in use.

In the Manage Links dialog, the Saved Path displays the pathed location of the link on Revit Server (for example: RSN//<Revit Server name>/New Folder/.../xxx.rvt) and the Revit Server link path type replaces the absolute or relative path.

Note: A local model of a central model in the server-based workflow is logically no different than a local model from a central model in the file-based workflow. You can have any type of central/local model open (in server-based worksharing or file-based worksharing) at any one time and can synchronize with the proper central models.
