Revit uses the information specified in the routing preferences to determine which type of cap to add.

  1. Select a duct or pipe segment, fitting, or accessory.
  2. Click Modify|Ducts tab or Modify|Pipes tabEdit panel Cap Open Ends.

Caps are added to all open ends of the selected element.

  3. Right-click a connector and click Cap Open End.
  4. Select a duct or piping network.
  5. Click Modify|Ducts tab or Modify|Pipes tabEdit panel Cap Open Ends.

Caps are added to all open ends of the selected content.

The new caps are highlighted and a warning dialog displays the number of caps that were added. Use the dialog to remove caps or display details about where caps were added.

Note: Caps are not added to takeoffs when you select a system. You must add a cap manually to any takeoffs.
