You can manually back up models at any time. Use a model-level lock to lock the specific models to be backed up, one model at a time. This type of backup is typically performed after critical project milestones.
- Open the Revit Server Administrator, and navigate to the Revit Server Host where the model resides.
- Select the model and click (lock).
Team members cannot access a locked model.
- Manually back up the model.
- In Windows Explorer, navigate to the projects directory configured for use by the Revit Server Host.
- Locate the folder whose name corresponds to the model that has just been locked.
- Copy that folder to another location on the same disk, but outside of the Revit Server Host project directory hierarchy.
- In Revit Server administrator, select the model again and click (unlock).
- Move the copy of the model folder to your backup archive.
Note: When a model is restored, team members must create new local copies from the restored backup. Also, if the restored model is incomplete when the backup is made, the model will be reverted back to its last complete version on restore.
