Applying Rebar Constraints

You can apply overrides to the default host constraint behavior on a selected rebar element.

  1. Select a rebar element in your model.
  2. Click Modify | Structural Rebar tab Host panel (Edit Constraints).
  3. In the Rebar Constraints dialog, select either Bar Plane, Start of Bar, End of Bar, or Out of Plane Extent. The face of the host that represents the constraint target highlights in the drawing area.
  4. Make changes to the rebar constraint using tools in the dialog.
    • To change the Constraint Target for the rebar, select an alternative from the Constrain Target drop down.
    • Select To Cover to force the constraint to the rebar cover of the host.
    • Enter a specific offset in the Constant Offset column. Negative values move the constraint toward the center of the host; positive values move the constraint outside of the host.

Rebar adjusts its shape by moving the appropriate shape handle to satisfy the selected constraint. Handles with constraint overrides show in the dialog table with an asterisk after their name, as will the preferred constraint target in the drop-down list.

  5. When finished, do one of the following.
    • Click Show Current to return the selected row to the current constraint.
    • Click Set as Preferred to override the current constraint of the selected row. The override is marked with an asterisk and is now the preferred constraint target during subsequent updates to the rebar element.
    • Click Find Default to clear the user constraint override of the selected row.
