Changing Energy Settings for Mass Surfaces

Note: Available as an Autodesk® Subscription Benefit.

When performing an Autodesk® 360 Energy Analysis on a conceptual model, you can change conceptual constructions and other energy settings for individual mass surfaces (floors, slabs, walls, roofs, glazing, and skylights).

  1. Open a view that displays the conceptual mass model.
  2. Click Massing & Site tabConceptual Mass panelShow Mass Surface Types.
  1. Select one or more mass walls, floors, slabs, glazing, or skylights.
Tip: Place the cursor over the edge of the desired element, press Tab one or more times until the desired element is highlighted, and click to select it. To select multiple elements, press and hold Ctrl while selecting individual elements.
  2. On the Properties palette, under Energy Settings, for Conceptual Constructions, select one of the following:
    • By Energy Settings to use the project-wide setting specified in the Energy Settings dialog.
    • The desired conceptual construction for the selected element. The resulting energy analysis will reflect this value.
  3. To change the type of surface (for a roof or wall), under Identify Data, for Subcategory, select the desired mass surface type.
  4. To change energy settings for the selected surface (a roof or wall), under Energy Model, do the following:
    1. For Value, select By Surface.
    2. Change the remaining energy settings as desired.
  5. When you simulate the conceptual model, the resulting analysis uses the assigned energy settings for the selected mass surfaces.
