The option defines additional code parameters for the steel member type. Click the More button in the Member Definition - parameters dialog. The following dialog appears:
The additional member parameters include:
- Section parameters
Anet/Agross Ratio
This value applies to a tensile force acting on the cable. It is a coefficient that defines the relationship of the member cross-section area, not considering the bolt or rivet openings (Anet), to the total cross-section area (Agross).
- Section parameters (shear lag factor U) - determines the effective area Ae of a tension member according to Section D3.3; values of the U parameter are given in Table D3.1.
- Conditions for round pipes (if the Pipes - unidirectional bending option is selected), calculates a bending moment equal to a sum of moments acting along axes Y and Z; the resultant moment is the basis for member design.
