The option defines additional code parameters for the steel member type. Access the option by clicking the Stiffeners button in the Member Definition - parameters dialog. After the option is selected, the following dialog displays:
The option determines the spacing of transverse stiffeners along the beam length (in real coordinates or in relation to the beam length).
Based on positions of transverse stiffeners, the program also calculates the length of the unstiffened web; this information is used to evaluate the shear strength V n according to Section G.
The program does not check if transverse stiffeners are geometrically correct according to Section G2.2.
