You can set properties for the whole system, for the inlets and outlets, and also for the circuit elements.
Note: if the Dalton Project Manager is not available, click
User Interface panel
Project Manager
to display it.
To change the circuit properties
- Click the circuit name in the Dalton Project Manager, and then click
Properties panel
Properties.
- Enter a new name for the circuit in the Name box.
- Specify the Gravity vector in the X, Y, and Z boxes.
- Select a calculation method for minor losses:
- Calculate except when K factor specified (Default)
If this option is selected and no K factor has been supplied, the minor losses are calculated automatically. If k factors have been supplied, Dalton uses them to calculate the minor losses.
-
Don't calculate (use specified K factors)
If this option is selected, the provided K factors are used to calculate minor losses.
- Calculate & add them to the specified values If this option is selected, minor losses are calculated and added to the specified K factors
- Click OK.
To select the type of fluid to use in the circuit
- In the Dalton Project Manager, expand the Properties category, and then navigate to the Fluid section.
- Click the name of the fluid to display the list of available fluids.
- Select a fluid to assign it to the circuit.
Note: If you cannot find the fluid that you want to use in the list, you can add it in the Material Library.
To set up inlets and outlets
You must set up at least one inlet and one outlet.
- In the Dalton Project Manager, expand the Boundary Nodes category, to display the list of nodes available in the circuit.
- Select the node that you want to use as an inlet, and then expand its content.
- Select Inlet from the Node Type list.
- Click the other parameters under this node to edit them as necessary.
Note: To create an outlet, repeat the steps above, but this time select Outlet from the Node Type list.
To assign a material to a circuit element
- In the Dalton Project Manager, expand the Elements category, and then navigate to the element that you want to modify.
- Under the Performance Data section, click the Material name to display the list of available materials.
- Select a material to assign it to the selected element.
Note: If you cannot find the material that you want to use in the list, you can add it in the Material Library.
