Update Properties–Vault Add-ins

File properties can be mapped to data in Autodesk Vault . If the mapped properties are edited, the data can be updated using the Update File Properties command. This action keeps the data and assigned properties synchronized.

AutoCAD Vault Add-in

Note: This feature available in Autodesk Vault Workgroup and Professional.

Use the Update Properties feature in AutoCAD or Autodesk Mechanical to keep the data and assigned properties synchronized.

The Update Properties feature is integrated with the vault revision table feature whereby it keeps revision block data synchronized with vault released information.

Update Properties

The vault CAD properties that are mapped to Autodesk Vault files are updated to reflect any changes made in Autodesk Vault.

Inventor Vault Add-in

Autodesk Vault file properties can be mapped to CAD data in Autodesk Vault. If the mapped properties are edited, the CAD data can be updated using the Update Properties feature in Autodesk Inventor to keep the data and assigned properties synchronized.  

The Update Properties feature is integrated with the vault revision table feature so that revision block data is synchronized with vault released information. 

Note: It is important that you understand properties and vault revision table before doing anything with your files' properties.

Get Latest Properties

The Get Latest Properties command retrieves file properties from Autodesk Vault and updates the mapped properties in the corresponding Autodesk Inventor files. Files must be checked out before getting the latest properties.

The Get Latest Properties dialog box lists the Autodesk Inventor files that are currently checked out and can be updated.

 View the contents of the vault in a tree structure.

 View the contents of the vault in a flat list.

Settings

Displays the options for updating properties for parents and children.

Get Latest Properties Settings

Include children
Gets the lates properties of the files that are dependent on the selected file.
Include parents
Gets the latest properties of all files that depend on the selected file.
OK
Applies the settings to the Get Latest Properties dialog box.
Cancel
Closes the Settings dialog box without applying changes to the Get Latest Properties dialog box.

Access Update Properties

    Note: Files must be checked out before getting the latest properties from assigned files.
  1. On the Autodesk Inventor toolbar, click Update
  2. In the Get Latest Properties dialog box, the files that are currently checked out and can be updated are listed. Turn off the check box in front of any files you do not want to update.
  3. Click Settings to specify if parents and children of the selected files are also updated.
  4. Click OK.

The vault CAD properties that are mapped to Autodesk Vault properties are updated to reflect any changes made in Autodesk Vault.

Autodesk Vault Office

File properties can be mapped to Microsoft Office data in Autodesk Vault. If the mapped properties are edited, the Microsoft Office data can be updated using the Property Sync feature in Microsoft Office to keep the data and assigned properties synchronized.  The Microsoft Office properties that are mapped to Autodesk Vault files are updated to reflect any changes made in Autodesk Vault.

Other Vault Add-ins

    Note: Not all add-ins offer this feature. Refer to your specific add-in description for more information.
  • Click Update Properties on the Autodesk Vault ribbon.

    The file properties of the open file that are mapped to Autodesk Vault files are updated to reflect any changes made in the vault.
