The quantity of any item can be changed in the BOM. For example, you can change the quantity of items that were added to the BOM from scratch or of parts that are modeled once but are reused throughout the design, such as bolts. When adding non-CAD items to a BOM, you must include a quantity because there is no CAD data to determine the quantity automatically. Item quantity can only be edited on the Bill of Materials tab in an item record. Only the quantities of direct children to the host item can be edited.
The BOM can only be edited when it is in the tree view. You can not edit a BOM if it is displayed in the list view. Quantities can only be edited for the direct children of the host item. To edit a quantity within a subassembly listed in the BOM, open the subassembly from the item master.
The item quantity can be either static or calculated. A calculated quantity is derived from the source CAD file and updates accordingly. A static quantity overrides the quantity specified in the linked CAD file and the original quantity contained in the CAD design is no longer reflected in the BOM.
A different font is used to identify whether a quantity is static or calculated.
