Autodesk and IBM have worked together to help you save time and money by recommending suitable hardware configurations for your anticipated Autodesk Vault implementation. This guide features consistent and reliable recommendations based on the latest IBM hardware in conjunction with the software environment variables that you enter.
Each recommendation in this guide considers a number of parameters you provide based on your anticipated Autodesk Vault environment. Input parameters include:
- Total number of users
- Percentage of simultaneous users
- Amortization period of server
- New Vault implementation vs. migration from an older version
- Total size & number of files
Questionnaire Wizard
The initial version of this sizing guide estimates hardware requirements for document centric workflows in Autodesk Vault at a single site. Future updates may include support for Autodesk Vault items, change orders, and replication.
To get started, create or login to your free user account on the IBM Site. Once signed in, complete each page of the Questionnaire wizard. Once you've completed the wizard, an overview of the detailed results appears that you may print or save as a PDF. You may return to previous steps in the process at any time to modify your initial planning estimates. Two potential solutions are provided at the end of the estimation process, an "Immediate" and "Growth" solution. The Immediate solution includes the amortization period and projected increase of load based on user input. The Growth solution adds approximately 50% more processor, RAM and storage capacity for longer term planning.
