You can use the stand-alone vault client, sometimes referred to as the vault explorer client, to browse the complete vault structure, add any file to the vault, and perform most other file-based operations, depending on your level of permission. You can also configure revision schemes, numbering schemes, define lifecycle behavior, manage items and change orders, and perform other administrative tasks in the vault stand-alone client. The features available for administration depend on which vault edition you are using.
Access the Autodesk Vault Client
- Go to Start

where edition is the level of Autodesk Vault that you are using and year is the product release year.
Go to Vault (Add-ins Only)
Although the Autodesk Vault add-in supports many essential vault functions from within the parent application's environment, it may be necessary to launch the Autodesk Vault Stand-Alone client to access additional vault administration and file maintenance options.
You can launch the Autodesk Vault stand-alone client straight from the Vault ribbon.
- Select Go to Vault from the Vault ribbon to launch the Autodesk Vault client.
