A Revit project may be restored to any point in time for which a backup was created. This process supports rolling backward and forward through the snapshots. It is also possible to open a snapshot for comparison without disrupting the project in process.
Restore a Central Project File
- Ensure all users are disconnected from the central file.
- Log into Autodesk Vault Professional from the Vault ribbon in Revit.
- Click Open from Vault on the Vault ribbon.
- Select the version of the file to open from vault.
- From the Revit Save As command, save the file as a Central file to the Network share location.
- Close the file.
- Click Open from Vault on the Vault ribbon again.
- Select the file and select the latest version.
- Select Ok.
The opened file should be a local copy of the central file.
Restore a Revit Server Project File
- If the file exists on the Revit Server, ensure that all users are disconnected from the Revit Server file and delete it from the Revit Server.
- Log into Autodesk Vault Professional from the Vault ribbon in Revit.
- Click Open from Vault on the Vault ribbon.
- Select the version of the file to open from vault.
- From the Revit Save As command, save the file to the Revit Server location.
- Close the file.
- Click Open from Vault on the Vault ribbon again.
- Select the file and select the latest version.
- Select Ok.
The file that opens should be a local copy of the Revit Server file.
