Toolbar Options

Performs operations on files displayed in the External References palette. Click the appropriate button to perform the operation.

Refresh Checks for changes in external file references and updates the Vault icons in the External References palette window. Files that have changed and are currently checked out to you are not updated. Files that are checked out to another user are updated to their current version. Files that are checked out to another user are updated to their current version on your local drive. If the Vault version is newer, then the Vault icon indicates that the file needs reloading (the Vault icon turns red).

Reload All Xrefs Reloads all xrefs from the local disk.

List View Displays all files as a flat list. Tooltips provide descriptions of the status icons in the browser. Pause the cursor over the status icon to see a detailed description of the file name, revision, lifecycle state, category, and file status.

Note: Revision, Lifecycle State, and Category information is displayed only in Autodesk Vault Workgroup, Collaboration, and Professional editions.

Tree View Displays all files as a hierarchical tree and shows the nested xref structure of the host file.

Attach DWG Attaches a new drawing file to the current drawing. If the host file is not yet checked out, you are prompted to check out the file before the new reference is attached.

Attach Image Attaches a new image file to the current drawing. If the host file is not yet checked out, you are prompted to check out the file before the new reference is attached.

Attach DWF Attaches a visualization file to the current drawing. If the host file is not yet checked out, you are prompted to check out the file before the new reference is attached.

Attach DGN Attaches a .dgn file to the current drawing. If the host file is not yet checked out, you are prompted to check out the file before the new reference is attached.

Attach PDFAttaches a .pdf file to the current drawing. If the host file is not yet checked out, you are prompted to check out the file before the new reference is attached.

Attach from Vault Use to reuse and share files. Browse through the vault and select a file to attach to the current drawing. The resulting attachment is a library or shared file. The term Library File appears in the tooltip after the file name for the file that is attached from a library folder in the vault. A file not attached from the library folder is a shared file. Only image and drawing files can be attached. You must check the host file out of the vault to attach a file from the vault.
