Manage Prompts

There are several ways to streamline your vault workflow. You can specify the default response for common dialogs so that every time certain dialogs are displayed, your preferred response is the default selection. You can also specify which commands are automatically performed without prompting you for input, reducing the number of times you need to directly interact with the vault.

Vault Client

  1. The frequency with which a prompt is displayed can also be specified at the time that the prompt is displayed. If you expand the prompt, you can select:

    • Always prompt
    • Don't prompt again this session
    • Don't ever prompt again  

    The default is Always prompt. If you select Don't ever prompt again, the answer you select for the prompt is set as the default answer and the command is performed automatically using the default answer without prompting you from this point forward. The default answer and prompt frequency can be changed in the Manage Prompts dialog box.

    You can manage the prompt responses and automation in the Manage Prompts dialog box. In addition to the default responses, you can also specify how often a prompt is displayed. By combining the default response for the most common prompts as well as how often you are prompted for a response, you can automate elements of your workflow, creating a transparent vault experience.

    From within Autodesk Vault, select Tools  Options.
  2. In the Options dialog box, click Prompts.
  3. In the Manage Prompts dialog box, select a command. The dialog lists all of the prompts related to most file-based commands such as checking out and checking in. The text for the related prompt is displayed in the column next to it as well as at the bottom of the dialog.
  4. The Response column shows the current default response for the prompt. Select a default response from the drop-down list.
  5. The Frequency column shows how often the prompt is displayed during a work session. The default is Always Prompt, meaning the dialog box is always displayed with the selected default response highlighted. Select Never Prompt to carry out the command related to the prompt using the selected default response without ever displaying the dialog box.
  6. Click OK.

AutoCAD Vault Add-in

  1. The following prompts can be suppressed, making your vault experience more transparent within your everyday tasks:

    • Check In
    • Check In on file close

    Each prompt has settings associated with it. You can specify default values for these prompts and choose whether or not they actively prompt you while working with files in a vault.

Other Vault Add-ins

    Depending on your particular add-in, one or more prompts can be suppressed, making your vault experience more transparent with your everyday tasks.

    Each dialog has settings associated with it. You can specify whether or not the dialogs actively prompt you while working with files in a vault.

  1. Select Vault Options from the Autodesk Vault ribbon.
  2. Click Prompts to manage the default responses to prompts and the frequency with which you are prompted during your work session.
