Install the Content Center

What is the Content Center?

Content Center is comprised of default libraries containing thousands of standard screws, bolts, nuts, washers, pins, and more, that can be inserted in assemblies

The following is the list of content which can be installed with the Autodesk Inventor products. In the Select Content Center Libraries window of the Installation Wizard, check boxes are selected for the libraries installed by default.

Installation of Inventor Content Center

Before you install, determine whether Desktop Content or Autodesk Vault Server best suits your needs.

Install Desktop Content (Content Center libraries for a single computer)

• Installs with Autodesk Inventor from the Autodesk Inventor media.
• Requires no additional software.
• A complete solution designed for stand-alone users who do not work in a shared environment.
• Installs Content Center libraries directly on your local computer.

Install missing Content Center libraries

If you forgot to install DIN libraries during your original configuration:

• Directly from your installation media, copy the relevant IDZ file to the Content Center library location on your PC. The IDZ file is an archived (zipped) IDCL file.

Autodesk Vault Server (Content Center libraries for a shared network environment)

• Installs from the Autodesk Vault (Server) media, separate from the installation of Autodesk Inventor.
• Designed for users who run Autodesk Inventor on their local computers and work in a shared environment.
• Minimizes space requirements on the local computer.
• Provides the means to manage user accounts.

Note: You can use desktop content libraries from a network share. However, you cannot install desktop content to a network share from the install media. To achieve this network configuration, first install the Desktop content locally and then copy the content to a shared network location. In Application Options, Content Center tab Access Options, change the location of the libraries to the location that you copied the library files (.idcl) to.

Important: This type of shared environment does not provide the security control that is available from managing the libraries on the Vault server.

Note: You can use Inventor 2012 and 2013 Content Center libraries in Inventor 2014 only after you migrate them. For more details, see Configuring Autodesk Inventor 2014 located on the Installation Help page on the Autodesk Inventor media.

Install Shared Content Libraries from the Vault Server Media

1. Launch the Vault Server Installation.
2. From the installation screen select Install Tools & Utilities.
3. Accept the license agreement and click Next.
4. Check Sharing Inventor Content Center files and click Next.
   Note: All Inventor content libraries are checked by default when installing this feature. To remove any of these libraries you need to configure this feature.
5. Click the little down arrow to configure which libraries are installed.
6. When you are finished, click the little up arrow to close the configuration screen and then click Install.

   The Content Libraries are installed.
