To create a display model from a set of existing layers
In AutoCAD Map 3D, in the Maintenance workspace, open a project.
Click Home tab > Display panel > Create Display Model.
Under Create Display Model, enter a name.
— Click the Create a New Map icon.
Select the new map, click Rename Selected Item, and enter a name.
Under Display Model Repository, expand the display model / display model map that contains the layers to add.
Do one of the following:
Select the layer, and click Add .
Drag the layer from the repository to the map.
Under Layer Properties, check whether Ref is selected.
Ref indicates that the layer file is referenced. Referenced layer files are not copied to the new display model folder. Instead, the path to the original layer is stored.
Note: If you modify the style of a referenced layer, the modifications affect all display models that use this layer.
Click Save, and specify a name and folder to save the display model.
