Description syntax

On the Description syntax tab of the Description Style dialog, you can define a syntax of an element description.

Define the syntax:

  1. Under Syntax elements, select the elements to include in the description
  2. Select the line of the description (1 line, 2 line, 3 line) to which the selected syntax elements will be added
  3. Click the arrow to add the elements.

Under Preview, the element description displays, as you defined it. This description is based on numerical values saved as fixed. The description updates when you change preferences (change of unit, precision), but units are not displayed in the preview.

If it is necessary to define more than 3 description lines, you can break text in the last line by using the symbol \P. This is a standard symbol used in AutoCAD (see also AutoCAD program mechanisms).

Variables included in the element description:

%El_name - Position name or opening name

%El_num - Element number

%S_name - Story name

%S_num - Story number

%Up_lev - Upper level

%Lw_lev - Lower level

Note: Variables included in a syntax must be put in brackets {}. You can add any text between the successive variables put in these brackets.
