Using this option, you can define criteria of element selection (by element section).
Open the Filters - element selection dialog from:
- Menu: Drawings menu > Tools > Element selection by section
- Ribbon: ASD - Model > Tools > Element selection by section
- Toolbar: Tools > Element selection by section
- Command line: RBCX_TOOL_SELECT_EX.
Define selection criteria:
Element - select an element type from the list. Use the arrow buttons to move through the list.
Select any combination of shapes, materials, and stories (the 
symbol displays) to specify selection criteria. For example, to select all RC beams with the section R30x50 that belong to stories 4 and 5 of a structure:
- Under Section, select R30x50
- Under Materials, select Concrete
- Under Stories, select Story 4 and Story 5.
To select all options in a field, click All. To clear the selection of all options in a field, click None.
Use the options at the bottom of the dialog to save the filter settings. To save a filter, select an element selection, type its name in the Name field and click Save. You can perform the following operations for user-defined filters:
- select from the drop-down list
- delete from the drop-down list (select a filter and click Delete)
- modify existing filters.
The Save option for filters is very helpful when a building is being modeled, because after you have saved the settings you do not have to redefine a specified element selection.
