Automatic reinforcement

Use this option to automatically generate reinforcement for a selected position (element) of a structure model.

To begin automatic reinforcement:

Note: Reinforcement can be generated for a single structure element only (one selected position). It is not possible to generate reinforcement for several elements of the same or different types.

In the Formwork drawing wizard dialog:

  1. Indicate a drawing position.
  2. Indicate the file where a formwork drawing and reinforcement will be generated
    • By entering its name for New file.
    • By selecting a previously saved file for Add to the existing file.
  3. Click Next.

An Autodesk AutoCAD Structural Detailing - Reinforcement macro runs and allows you to define parameters of necessary reinforcement of the selected element type.

After you define reinforcement parameters, the formwork drawing of the structure element and the generated reinforcement are opened in the Reinforcement module.

RC macros for generating reinforcement are composed of a part for defining geometry of an RC structure element and a part for defining reinforcement parameters.

When you use a Reinforcement macro to define reinforcement parameters, all options are available for each type of structure element. Not all options located on the Geometry tabs of the Reinforcement macros are available after you initiate Automatic reinforcement in Autodesk AutoCAD Structural Detailing - Formwork Drawings (see the table below).

If the conditions described are not satisfied, Automatic reinforcement is not available from the context menu:

Spread footing:

Spread footing shape: must be a rectangular cross-section

A column must adjoin to the spread footing

Column shape: a rectangular or round cross-section

Continuous footing:

Continuous footing shape: only scheme nos. 1 and 3

Cross-section of a continuous footing: only rectangular (to be placed under 1 or 2 walls)

A wall must adjoin to the continuous footing

Continuous footing geometry: straight (not arc-shaped) continuous footing

Wall geometry: straight (not arc-shaped) wall

Beam:

Beam cross-section: only rectangular

Beam geometry: n spans

Column:

All 4 types of columns are available

Ground beam:

Shape: only scheme no. 1 (beam without cuts)

Beam cross-section: only rectangular

Beam geometry: straight (not arc-shaped) beam

Lintel:

Shape: single-span beam with a rectangular cross-section

Supports: brick supports on both ends of a beam
