To import bodies of water

For polygons representing water features, edges are automatically rounded to resemble ponds or lakes.

  1. Follow the general import instructions.
  2. On the Data Source Configuration screen, on the Common tab, map properties from the data source to the following:
    • Water Level: The depth of the water.

      Water Level is used in conjunction with the Draping settings on the Source tab. You can drape a feature on the terrain and then move it 5 metres below ground level by using a level offset of -5.

    • Buffer Width: The border between the water feature and the surrounding area.
    • Bank Width: The area within the water border that is not covered by water.
  3. If the level of the water lies under the terrain, click the Source tab and set Draping Options to Set Level.

    Enter a value or select the property that represents the relationship between the data and the level of the terrain. To modify a property to make it accurately represent the level, click and enter an expression.

  4. Specify how closed polylines in the source data will be treated in the model.

    Leaving the check box unselected will treat a water feature as a river, while selecting it will treat it as a pond or lake.
