Installing the Softimage Help

By default, the Help in the Softimage 2015 software product is internet-based.

If you prefer to have the English or localized versions of the Softimage Help available on your OS within the Softimage software product, you need to install the Help and change the default Help preference setting.

Prepare to Install the Softimage Help

Before you install the Help, ensure you have done the following:

Install the Softimage Help on a Shared Location

On Windows and Linux platforms, you can install the Softimage Help to a shared location, such as internal network or web server, so that it can be accessed by multiple users. You can then set the Softimage Help preferences on individual systems to access Help from this location.

Change the default Softimage Help preference setting

To change the default Help preference settings, you need to launch Softimage and change the setting within Softimage.

To change the Help preference setting:

  1. Start Softimage.
  2. Choose File > Preferences from the menu bar.
  3. In the Preferences window, click General.
  4. Choose Local Computer/Network, from the Help Location preferences, to use the installed local Help.
    Note: If you copied the Help to a shared location, choose Custom, from the Help Location preferences, and then click the icon to browse to the shared location of the Softimage Help.

    The Softimage 2015 Help is now available from the Softimage Help menu, the F1 keyboard shortcut, and context-sensitive help menus.
