This command aligns a grid object with the current view. The grid object is aligned so that it's coplanar with the view and oriented with the top of the grid at the top of the view.
Procedures
To align a grid object with a viewport:
- Activate a grid object, then activate the viewport to align the grid with by right-clicking in the viewport.
- Do either of the following:
- Right-click to open the quad menu, then, in the Tools 1 quadrant, choose Align Grid to View.
- Using the Standard menu system, choose Tools menu Grids And Snaps Align Grid to View.
Tip: This command isn't available by default with the Enhanced menu system. However, you can access it with the Search 3ds Max Commands feature, as follows: With no menu open, press X to open a small search dialog. Enter "align" and you'll see a list of commands containing that word, including Align Grid To View. Click the command in the list to invoke it.
The grid object rotates to align itself with the selected view. The grid object is now planar, or parallel, with the viewport.
