Installing Plug-Ins to Exchange Data with Adobe After Effects

State Sets can interoperate directly with Adobe After Effects CS5, CS5.5 (64-bit), CS6, through CC (Creative Cloud) 2014. See Exchanging Data Between State Sets and Adobe After Effects. To enable this feature, you first have to install the appropriate plug-ins.

To install the After Effects plug-ins,:

  1. If After Effects is running, close it.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Navigate to the folder <3ds Max install folder>\ExternalPlugins\CS5\Windows\, then double-click the file Autodesk Adobe AE.exe to run it. This installs the plug-ins.
    • Copy the files "by hand":
      1. From <3ds Max install folder>\ExternalPlugins\CS5\Windows\, copy Adobe.AfterFX.dll and Autodesk.Plugins.Adobe.AfterFX.SceneIO.dll to the <After Effects install folder>\Support Files\ folder.
      2. From <3ds Max install folder>\ExternalPlugins\CS5\Windows\, copy Autodesk.Plugins.Adobe.AfterFX.SceneIO.Loader.aex to the <After Effects install folder>\Support Files\Plug-ins\AEGP\ folder (create the \AEGP folder if you need to).
  3. Restart After Effects.
