The Decomposition Process

The graphic below depicts a schematic diagram of the decomposition process that maps homogenized composite strain increments into the average strain increments in the plastic matrix constituent material. The decomposition process [11,12] makes use of the instantaneous (tangent) constituent properties, the incremental Mori-Tanaka micromechanics model, and the fiber orientation tensor. The computed average strain increment in the matrix constituent is used to drive the matrix plasticity model and predict the evolution of the matrix tangent modulus.
