After the part and the materials have been created, sections for the ply and cohesive cells need to be defined and assigned.
Switch to the Property module.
For the ply section, create a Solid, Homogeneous section (Section > Create) named Ply_Section that uses the material XAS_913C. Assign (Assign > Section) Ply_Section to the ply cells.
For the cohesive section, create an Other, Cohesive section named Cohesive_Section that uses the material Cohesive_Material and Traction Separation Response. Specify an initial thickness of 1.0. Assign Cohesive_Section to the cohesive cell.
Note: Always use the Traction Separation response when using Simulation Composite Analysis Cohesive materials and always specify an initial thickness of 1.0.
To orient the plies and the cohesive section, a datum coordinate system must be created and assigned to the part.
Create a datum coordinate system (Tools > Datum) using the 3 points method called Ply_Coord. Use the point 0, 0, 0 as the origin, 1, 0, 0 as the X-axis point, and 0, 0, -1 as the point in the X-Y plane.
Assign the coordinate system to the whole part (Assign > Material Orientation). The orientation is shown below.
