Checking Your Environment

The AutoCAD VBA integrated development environment (VBA IDE) needs to be installed to create and execute macros.

The VBA IDE is not installed with the product; it must be downloaded and installed separately. The following steps outline how to check for and install the VBA IDE as needed:

  1. At the AutoCAD Command prompt, enter vbaide.

If the VBA IDE opens, the VBA IDE is installed. If you receive the message “VBA - Not Installed,” the VBA IDE is not installed. Proceed to step 2 to install the VBA IDE.

  2. On the VBA - Not Installed message box, click the http://www.autodesk.com/vba-download link, or open a Web browser and browse to the URL.
  3. Close the message box and then close AutoCAD before proceeding.
  4. On the Web page, download the appropriate module for the AutoCAD release and platform installed on your workstation.
  5. Run the installer and follow the instructions that are displayed.
  6. Launch AutoCAD.
  7. At the AutoCAD Command prompt, enter vbaide.

    The VBA IDE should open.
