Uses command prompts to create an Autodesk FBX file containing all selected objects in the current drawing.
When an AutoCAD exported FBX file is opened in 3ds MAX, everything is rotated by 90 degrees on the Z axis.
The following prompts are displayed.
- What should be exported?
- Specifies which items to export to an FBX format. You can specify whether you want to select objects and properties or export all visible objects and properties.
- Selected
- Prompts you to select the 3D objects, 2D objects with thickness, lights, cameras, and materials to be exported.
- Visible
- Exports the entities that are visible in the current viewport.
- Select objects
- (Available if you specified Selected) Select the objects in the drawing to export to FBX and press Enter. You can select 3D objects, lights, cameras, and materials to export. As you select, the list of selected items displays.
A list of all exportable items in the drawing is displayed.
- Types to export
- Specifies whether you want to keep the current export settings, change them, or export all settings.
- Settings
- Prompts you to individually confirm or deny exporting the selected items. You can remove any of the selected items from being exported using this option.
- Export objects? Confirms the export of selected objects.
- Export lights? Confirms the export of light settings.
- Export cameras? Confirms the export of camera settings.
- Export materials?Confirms the export of material assignments.
- How to handle materials
- (Available if you choose to export materials) Specifies how the materials are handled in the target drawing.
- Embed. Inserts the materials into the target drawing.
- Reference originals. Inserts a reference to the materials in the target drawing.
- Copy originals. Copies the materials to a location that you specify.
- Path and name of file to export
- Enter the path and the file name to save the FBX file.
- Path to copy textures to
- (Available if you choose Copy originals) Specifies where to store copies of the textures.
- All types
- All selected items are chosen for export. A list of items selected for export is displayed.
