To Work With Drawing Passwords

Note:

If you plan to protect a set of drawings with digital signatures as well as passwords, first add the password to each drawing, and then sign the files in a batch. Adding a password to a signed drawing, or otherwise changing a signed drawing, invalidates the signature.

Add a Password and Encryption

  1. Right-click in the drawing area, and choose Options.
  2. In the Options dialog box, Open and Save tab, click Security Options.
  3. In the Security Options dialog box, Password tab, enter a password.
  4. To encrypt drawing properties such as the title, author, subject, and keywords, select Encrypt Drawing Properties.
  5. Optionally, click Advanced Options, and choose an encryption provider, key length, or both.
Note: A default encryption level, supplied by your operating system, is used unless you choose an advanced level. If you decide to choose an advanced level, you can choose from RC4 encryption providers supplied by your operating system. You also can choose a key length (the higher the length, the higher the protection). An RC4 encryption provider is a standard form of encryption, and the RC4 encryption providers vary in the type of protection they provide.
  6. Click OK.
  7. In the Confirm Password dialog box, enter the password you used. Click OK.
Tip: You can also add a password by clicking Tools Security Options in the Save Drawing As dialog box before saving the drawing.

To Remove a Password From a Drawing

  1. Optionally, click Advanced Options, and choose an encryption provider, key length, or both.
  2. In the Options dialog box, Open and Save tab, click Security Options.
  3. In the Security Options dialog box, Password tab, clear the Password Or Phrase To Open This Drawing box.
