Configuring Distribeast

After installation, you can configure certain aspects of the Distribeast node running on your computer.

Auto-start

By default, the Distribeast service starts automatically when Windows is started, and the Distribeast Monitor tray application starts automatically when the user logs in to a computer running a Distribeast node. You can disable the auto-start for these applications as follows:

Accepting and refusing jobs

By default, Distribeast nodes are set to accept jobs from their controller. If you do not want to be disturbed by incoming requests from the Distribeast controller, you can configure the Distribeast node on your computer to not accept any new jobs.

To set whether or not your node will accept new jobs, right-click the Distribeast Monitor application icon in the system tray and toggle the Accept Jobs from others option in the pop-up menu.

Advanced configuration via the registry

The Distribeast service reads additional configuration settings from the Windows registry. If you are comfortable browsing the registry and setting new values for its keys, you can alter additional Distribeast configuration settings.

Changing the configuration settings in this way can impact normal node operations; therefore, it is recommended only when absolutely necessary. Consider creating a backup of the node configuration before changing the registry.

After changing the node configuration in the registry, you need to restart the Distribeast service in order for the changes to be applied.
