About Exchanging Files Between AutoCAD Civil 3D and Autodesk InfraWorks

You can use the Import IMX and Export IMX commands to exchange files between AutoCAD Civil 3D and Autodesk InfraWorks.

Importing Data from Autodesk InfraWorks

You can import Autodesk InfraWorks terrain, coverage area, water area, pipe, and road data into AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Styles are created in AutoCAD Civil 3D for the imported objects.

If you import an IMX file into an AutoCAD Civil 3D drawing which has no coordinate system set, then the coordinate system is set in the drawing to match the coordinate system in the IMX file. If you import an IMX file which has a different coordinate system than the drawing, the IMX file data is transformed to the drawing's coordinate system.

Exporting Data from Autodesk InfraWorks

You can export surfaces, pipe networks, alignments, profiles, and corridors from AutoCAD Civil 3D to Autodesk InfraWorks.
