To Open or Close the Toolspace Window

  1. Click Home or View tab Palettes panel Toolspace.
    Note: At least one Toolspace tab must be in the “open” state or the Toolspace button is grayed out. In this case, click one of the tab display buttons on the ribbon to open the tab.
  2. If the tabs you want to use are not open in the Toolspace window, use the following ribbon buttons to open them:
    • Prospector
    • Settings
    • Survey
    • Toolbox

    When the Toolspace tabs are in the “open” state, the ribbon buttons have a blue background.

    When the Toolspace tabs are in the “closed” state, the ribbon buttons have a white background.

If...

Then do this...

Only the Toolspace title bar is displayed.

Move the cursor over the title bar to display the full Toolspace window.

To disable Auto-hide, right-click the Toolspace title bar and click Auto-hide to remove the check mark next to it.

The contents of a tab are out of date.

Right-click in the window and click Refresh.

You want to close the Toolspace window.

Click in the Toolspace window or click the Toolspace button on the ribbon.

Tip: Closing the Toolspace window can help improve overall performance as well as save memory, so it is recommended to close the Toolspace window when it is not necessary to have it open. Likewise, it is recommended to close the Toolspace tabs (Prospector, Settings, Survey, or Toolbox) which you do not need to have open.
