To Work With a Survey Query File

You can save an individual survey query to a QML file that you can open and reuse or import into another survey database.

To save a survey query file

  1. Open a survey database.
  2. On the Survey Toolspace tab, expand the database name.
  3. Expand the Survey Queries collection.
  4. Right-click the query name Save Query To File.
  5. Specify a name and location for the QML file and click Save.
Note: You can also save a survey query to a file from within the Survey Query Builder dialog box. This allows you to save a survey query for reuse if the survey database is read-only.

You can open a survey query file in the Survey Query Builder.

To open a survey query file

  1. Open a survey database.
  2. Click Survey tab Modify panelSurvey Query.
  3. Click Survey Query tab Manage panel Open File.
  4. Select the QML file and click Open.

You can import a survey query file that you have exported or saved from a survey database into another survey database.

To import a survey query file into a survey database

  1. Open a survey database. The database must be open for write-access to import a query.
  2. On the Survey Toolspace tab, expand the database name.
  3. Right-click Survey Queries Import.
  4. Select the QML file to import and click Open.

You can export all defined queries from a survey database to a specified location. This is useful if you want to use the queries on other databases.

To export survey query files from a survey database

  1. Open a survey database.
  2. On the Survey Toolspace tab, expand the database name.
  3. Right-click Survey Queries Export.
  4. Specify the location for the exported queries and click Open.

    All queries defined for the survey database are exported as separate files in the specified location.
