Configure the application to suit your work preferences.
The options dialog consists of four separate tabs.
General tab
Define the basic parameters used to configure the setup.
- Measurement system
- Either Metric, or US English units can be set.
- The default is Metric units.
- Most recently used files list
- Define the size of the Recent Documents list that appears in the right hand pane of the Application Menu.
- The default is 10 files.
- System Background
- Customize the color of the background. You can select a top and bottom color. These will merge into each other resulting in a graduated background color.
Language and Help Systems tab
- Language
- Select the language of the user interface from the installed languages.
- The default language is English.
- Help system
- By default, any help requests are sent to the relevant page on the Autodesk wiki. This enables access to the most up to date help. If there is no internet access, the request uses the local help. The user can choose to use the local help option even with an available internet connection.
- Tooltip appearance
- A tooltip is a short sentence that describes the functionality of a specific button or control. These tooltips appear when the mouse hovers over the button.
The time the mouse has to hover over a button before the tooltip appears can be configured.
Disable tooltips by un-checking the Show tooltips option.
Viewer tab
Adjust the sensitivity of the following functions. Moving the slider to the right increases the sensitivity of the mouse movement.
- Pan factor
- The distance the model moves while in pan mode.
- Zoom factor
- The speed the zoom function operates
- Orbit factor
- The speed the model rotates around the pivot point
- Triad location
- The triad is the representation of the rotation of the part with respect to the imported co-ordinate system.

- The default position for the triad is in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. The Show Triad check box controls the visibility of the triad.
- View Cube and Navigation Bar location
- The relative location of the View Cube and the Navigation Bar are locked together. Select a different location, and both elements will move to the specified position. The Show View Cube and Show Navigation Bar check boxes control the visibility of these elements.
